"Complusion" (2013; 95 x 147 x 8in)
This piece explores the thought processes behind repetitive/compulsive behavior. "Compulsion" began as an exploration into the idea of "building a painting". I was interested in where painting ended and sculpture began. As I made circle after circle, I began to consider the similarities and differences between repetition, compulsion, and art making. The final realization of "Compulsion" startles the line of painting, sculpture, and obsession through the repetitious use of a variety of elements.
